myLot Discussions| Teaching Kids to Ride | | Time to teach another one how to ride a bike. Wesley is our youngest at five years old and we've started working on getting him riding on his own. We used training wheels with a few of our older kids but I'm not a great fan of them. I have his seat down as low as it will go so if he is determined he can scoot along until he get a little confidence in his balance. Got a cute shot of him being helped by his older sister. Anyone have any tried and true methods for teaching their youngsters how to ride? This only gets frustrated easier than his siblings and it may take a little longer. | |
| | are you ever worried about your neighbours when you move to a new house? | | We just bought a new house. We hate our current neighbours. They have no respect for peoples boundaries or belongings. I often find their kids bikes blocking my drive, they keep hitting our flowerpots with their vehicles, and one nite they even had a fire 6 feet high in a barrel not 3 feet from my vehicle in my driveway. Trailer trash stereotype without the trailer. Now that we have the new house we are worried thet the new neighbours will be the same or worse. Has anyone got any horror sotries about something like that? | |

How often did you ride it?? what color are your kids bikes?? how often do they ride theirs??When I was younger I had a purple bike. I lived in the country so I couldn't ride it into town, but when I could I rode all over where I lived. Both my sons bikes are red. My daughters bike is pink and they ride it almost everyday. But only around where we live. | |
| | Stimulus's check | | So everyone should have gotten there check by now. Mine is in the mail on the way to me. We where going to go on a trip to Kansas city with are check but then decide to just go camping close by so we didn't spend all the money. Also we are going to buy some things for are house,fix the kids bikes, and buy clothes and supplies for the kids before school starts. Also do any fixing to are jeep and van. | | Condominium Association Board Members | | Anyone living in a condominium complex? I am. I should love it, no yard work, two swimming pools that I don't have to maintain myself, two playgrounds for the kids to play on, and a party room at a very reasonable price. Those are just a few things that you would think would make this place a great place to live. Until you meet the board members!! We have a few people on our board that have been on there for twenty plus years and think they own the entire complex. They are spending our money with no real progress being made. To try to make up for their poor spending habits, they are walking around with cameras basically stalking people just waiting for them to leave a toy in the yard and fine them $25 for it. Where does that money go? Surely not to the repairs that need to be done around here. The roads are horrible, cars are being damaged, ankles are being broken, kids bikes are getting flat tires. They do these "bandaid" repair jobs which end up being worse on us than when the potholes were there. Oh and don't even get me started on the increase in monthly fees as well. At the rate we are going, my monthly maintenance fee is going to be more than my mortgage!! | |

My daughters old bike fell apart over the weekend. And I promised her that I will get her a new bike if she went to the restroom during school. (one of my biggest concern).
And she did so after dinner, I took her to toys r's u to pick out a bike.I got her a 14' wheel Dora bike. Which she liked. I saw that price tag and I was so shocked. It was 69.99,and for ready assembled one it was 79.99 (yep my total came up to 86.00) When we got home, i asked to her bike around in the living room. Guess what! She does not know how to bike. Why is that? She used to be able to go really fast with her mini baby bike, but now everytime she tries to she ends up breaking. Why do kids do that? I thought all bikes are the same. I remember my son used to do the same thing, when he got is first bigger bike, he refuse to bike because it was so complicated. Does anybody know why the bigger bikes are so complicated. I thought they do the same, peddle and it moves right?i never knew how to bik because my parents did not let me have one. So I am not sure how it works. But i thought if you knew how to bike it will all be the same. her training wheels are... | |
| | Senior class scavenger hunt ---everything must be stolen | | What kind of message are we sending our kids to students that we may teach or work with if we send them out to break teh law?http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2008/may/19/police-investigate-boulder-high-scavenger-hunt/the list inlcuded things like, kids bikes, menus, road signs you name it....The complaint started as a noise complaint and police managed to nab 7 teenagers and ended up taking 2 hours to pick up everything that they had dropped and thrown from the cars, about 200 items.It was at the police station that they produced a list of items and told them that it was associated with their senior class scavenger hunt, and that they were told everything had to be stolen.They would not say who put them up to it.Im sorry but this is wrong, and I think whoever put the kid up to doing this should be prosecuted as well.What do you think of htis?Prank or cruelty to the seniors?

| | How To Scare Yourself To Death | | This happened last Saturday night at around 2am. It had been raining all night, not hard, just a continuous drizzle. So anyways, the wife shook me awake and told me she heard a noise downstairs, says the dog probably wants to go outside. So I reluctantly drag myself downstairs still half-asleep. But the dog is happily asleep on the couch (he's getting better sleep than me lol) so I mumble to myself and turn to head back up to the warmth of our bed. But then I hear a faint noise as I put my foot at the first step of the stairs. By the way I didn't open any lights because the aquarium is lit up enough to let me see my way. So anyways I check the kitchen and nothing seems amiss. I check the living room, looks fine. Maybe it's the windows, I tell myself because it's a bit windy outside. So I check the windows that overlook the backyard but they're tightly closed. I turn back and then i hear a faint noise again and I'm almost certain it came from the backyard. So I move back to the window and try to peer out into the darkness. At exactly the same instant that I cup my face into the glass, another face emerges trying to peer inside my house, only the glass separating our faces.... | |
