myLot Discussions| Mountain biking tour to the remote area, far away from the crowd. | | I do go out on my mountain bike, especially at the weekend. What I do is not for competition but rather for just getting away from it all. Mostly I visit villages located outside the city where I live. It's so nice to meet villages. They like to greet people. They seem honest and nice to talk to. Many people in my city bike in a group of 10 to 20 people. When they are tired, they just pull up and rest for a couple of minutes. | |
| | I've got the luckiest daughter!! | | I can't believe the luck of this girl...For the 4th of July we went down to spend time with my mom. At the fireworks show there was a raffle. I didn't know anything about it. My mom had taken the kids over to the water play area, and I was resting. A lady with a clipboard came up and asked if I had any children ages 7 to 10 with me who would like a chance at winning a prize. I said sure why not. So I signed her up. Then I hunted my mom down to let her know Lex needed to be by the stage at the right time. On the way back from the water land, my mom and her walked behind the stage where they saw two brand new bikes. A man standing there said they were the raffle and she could enter, it was free. My mom thought about what I had said, and almost dropped another raffle in for...you know, tweaking the odds for her. But she thought a lesson could be learned. So she told Lex she should pray. She also let her know that sometimes the answer is no, but that you can never expect your prayers to be answered with a yes if you never ask them. So they bothe said a little prayer, then off they went. Just before the raffle started, we all decided an icecream would be nice. Luck doesn't run to think... | |
| | Favorite trail bike? | | For all you mountain bikers out there, what's your favorite trail bike? I know that the term "trail bike" is thrown around a lot, but my definition of a good trail bike is one with 4.5-6.5 inches of real travel and 5-6 in front. You should also be able to climb a bit with one, and they should be fairly light, from 30-40 lbs.My personal fave is the Giant Reign XO.What are your guys' favorite trail bikes? | |
| | Long hair | | I am a single dad, 6 foot 1, and I weigh 270 pounds, and ride mountain bikes and am healthy, no extra fat problem. I started growing my hair 2 years ago because insurance wouldn't pay my disability insurance. I told my friend that I would cut it when I got paid. Well now it's long and I don't feel like cutting it. is it wrong to have real long hair, and a big beard when I am 50 with a 10-year old son??? also let her know that sometimes the answer is no, but that you can never expect your prayers to be answered with a yes if you never ask them. So they bothe said a little prayer, then off they went. Just before the raffle started, we all decided an icecream would be nice. Luck doesn't run to think in my family, so when I heard the DJ start the happenings, I tried to divert my kids attention from the stage. They took a long time with the boys bike, making a fuss and what not. Just as Lex and I were ordering our cones I heard our last name. I thought, hey there's a kid here with our last name. Just I said that to her, I heard her first name...it's pretty common, so I made sure to put her middle initial on the raffle. I then heard it all, and... | |
| | | Question about bikes? | | I know nothing about bike terminology, but I recently got my mom to bring me my old mountain bike to the city I live in now. Unfortunately, at some point during the winter, my dad accidentally backed over it's rear wheel, so I'm thinking the entire thing needs to be replaced since the spokes are all broken and it's bent and pretty warped looking.I guess I'll need to get a new one, but I need to know from someone in the know about mountain bikes, what kind of things a bike shop would need to know to replace it, what exactly I'm going to ask for (so I don't look like an idiot trying to explain) and what kind of price I could be expecting to pay for something like that? Thanks in advance, guys! | |

| | trucks | | Ok, so we're in the process of looking for a new truck. Not brand new, but probably 2002-2005. It's narrowed down to either a Toyota Tacoma or a Nissan, they look fairly similar quality. Nissans are a bit cheaper. I'd love any opinions on these trucks if you own one, or if you happen to be one of those auto expert types who knows what's good! We don't really need 4x4, but my husband would like it, the truck will mostly be for driving to work and travelling across the province to visit family... We need a truck, not a car, as he kayaks and mountain bikes and uses the back a lot. So what do you think is better, the Tacoma or a Nissan? | |
