| | Australian male auctions his life on e-bay sad story | | 44-year-old Australian who sky-dives, snowboards and rides motorbikes in his free time might seem to have a great life. But in fact he says he no longer wants it."The initial trigger for it was, unfortunately, the breakup of my marriage," he said. After his five-year marriage ended two years ago, Usher decided the best way to patch up his broken heart was to pitch all his stuff and start over. In June, he's auctioning everything off on eBay. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/WaterCooler/story?id=4488471 the rest of the story is right there for you... It's actually a truly sad story for someone who can't go on with life but yet sells it on e-bay. What are your thoughts on this.. | |
| | Epitaphs- Synopsis of a Life? | | In the town where I grew up, there is an old cemetery. So old in fact, that erosion from the nearby lake actually washed caskets and remains into the water and along the shorelines. There are also old stones. Plain white slabs, standing like thin white snowboards sticking out of the ground. Some of the words have faded into non legibility, but still some of the epitaphs can be read. Glimpses into the lives of those long ago.One stone that stands out in my mind, was of a man who performed great feats of strength. I had forgotten the name, but my mother contacted her friends who take care of the cemetery and they said his name was Daniel Johnson. His epitaph reads:"beware ye weak, here lies the stronga victim of his strengthhe lifted 1500 poundsand here he lies at length."I found the stone in a book long before i knew it was so close to home, and I wanted to find it online for my husband, who's friends have decided it's fun to leg press 1800 uphill.. their gonna get hurt, but I can find it nowhere online. However, I have found an incredible number of famous last words and not so famous.Do you know of any intersting epitaphs, be they funny, or... | |
